The Library Legacy Capital Campaign

Our Library Foundation is a diverse group of individuals united by their love of reading, life-long learning, and their sense of community service. Immediately after our foundation received its non-profit status in 2004 we began a capital campaign to expand the children’s area at the main Klamath County library.

After we successfully completed this project (grand opening in April 2009), our next capital campaign was to build a 1,900 square foot Bonanza Branch Library as an addition to the existing community center. Our goal in this project was to improve the reading and learning experience of the residents served by the Bonanza Branch Library. The Bonanza Branch addition opened in October 2010.

The South Suburban Branch Library now has a new home! The branch was previously in a leased storefront space in the Town & Country Shopping Center. That space was inadequate for the high usage that this branch receives, and the Foundation helped the Library District purchase and renovate a building that better serves the community. We were awarded grants from the Ford Family Foundation Fund, the Avista Foundation and the Oregon Community Foundation. In April 2014, the branch opened for business, and a formal grand opening was held in June!
